How Isaan Counsel collects, uses, and safeguards personal information in connection with its legal services and this website.
Last reviewed: April 2025
Isaan Counsel ("we", "us", "the practice") is a legal practice based at 89 Si Chan Road, Nai Mueang, Mueang Khon Kaen, Khon Kaen 40000, Thailand. We are committed to handling personal information with care and in a manner consistent with the Thailand Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) (PDPA) and other applicable law.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use personal data through our website at isaancou.pro and in the course of providing legal services. It should be read alongside our Cookie Policy.
1. Data We Collect
When You Contact Us
When you submit an enquiry through our website contact form or reach us by telephone or email, we collect:
- Your name and, where relevant, the name of any family members you mention
- Your contact details (email address and telephone number as provided)
- Details of your enquiry, which may include information about a deceased person, estate assets, or family circumstances
We collect only what is reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and, if you engage us, to provide the service you have requested.
When You Use Our Website
Our website server collects standard access log data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the time and duration of your visit. This is collected automatically by the server and is used solely for security and operational purposes. Where you have consented to analytics cookies, certain anonymised browsing data is also collected by Google Analytics and related services — please see our Cookie Policy for detail.
2. How We Use Personal Data
We use the personal data we hold for the following purposes:
- Responding to enquiries. To reply to your question or request for an appointment, and to assess whether we are able to assist you.
- Providing legal services. Where you engage us, to carry out the work we have agreed, including liaising with the Land Department, courts, and other relevant bodies on your behalf.
- Legal and professional obligations. To comply with applicable law, court orders, professional conduct rules, and anti-money-laundering requirements.
- Improving our website. Where you have consented to analytics cookies, to understand how visitors use our site and to improve its content and structure.
We do not use personal data for automated decision-making, profiling for marketing purposes, or any processing that is not directly connected to the purposes above.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the PDPA and general data protection principles, we process your personal data on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract — where you have engaged us to provide a legal service.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, maintain our records, and improve our website, where those interests are not overridden by your own rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with applicable law.
- Consent — for optional analytics cookies, where you have given explicit consent through our cookie notice.
4. Sensitive Personal Data
Inheritance and estate matters sometimes involve information that is sensitive under the PDPA, including health information about a deceased person, or financial details. We handle such information with particular care, restricting access within the practice to those with a direct need to know, and storing it securely. We will not share sensitive information without your authority except where required by law.
5. Sharing Personal Data
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Government and official bodies. Where required to complete a land transfer, probate, or similar process — for example, sharing relevant documents with the Khon Kaen Land Department or the courts.
- Professional advisers. Where we engage an interpreter, notary, or specialist adviser to assist with your matter, on a need-to-know basis and subject to confidentiality.
- Service providers. Our website is hosted on servers in Thailand. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for website analytics, and Meta Pixel to understand the reach of our digital presence. These providers process data under their own policies; we have selected providers that offer appropriate data protection commitments.
- Legal requirements. Where we are compelled to disclose by court order or applicable law.
6. Retention
We retain client files for a minimum of seven years from the completion of a matter, in accordance with Thai professional requirements and the general limitation period for civil claims. Enquiries that do not proceed to an engagement are retained for twelve months. Website access logs are retained for ninety days. Analytics data is retained in accordance with the retention settings of each analytics provider.
At the end of a retention period, records are either securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure. Our systems are password-protected, our website uses HTTPS, and access within the practice is restricted to those with a need to handle particular information. No system is entirely without risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take these obligations seriously.
8. Your Rights
Under the PDPA, and subject to applicable conditions, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of data, where we are not required to retain it by law
- Object to certain processing, or request that we restrict processing while a query is resolved
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time (by clearing your cookie preferences)
- Lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Committee of Thailand
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and, in any case, within the period required by applicable law.
9. Children
Our services are intended for adults managing inheritance and estate matters on their own behalf or on behalf of a family. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 20 without the consent of a parent or guardian. Where an estate matter involves a minor heir, we collect information about that minor only to the extent necessary to administer the estate on their behalf.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when we change how we handle data, when we add new services, or when legislation changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last reviewed. Significant changes will be noted here.
